The beautiful and simple Hermes Belkin bag has a great story to tell, its a bag made specially handmade for a woman by Hermes. On a plane ride from Paris to London in the year of 1981 the Hermes Chief Executive Jean- Louis Dumas was seated next to actress Jane Birkin. Birkin had placed a straw bag in the overhead compartment of her seat and the contents fell leaving her to scramble to replace the contents. Birkin explained to Duman how difficult it was for her to find the perfect leather weekend bag. Durman created a bag for her based on a 1892 design on 1984 and Birkin used the bag for herself but later changed her mind, still the bag has been and now is an icon. The bag comes in many different sizes, colors and skins such as leather, ostrich, crocodile, lizard, and the most expensive saltwater crocodile. The lining is made out of goat skin, the color of the interior matches the exterior. The bag has a lock and keys and the keys are enclosed with leather lanyard known as clochette, carried by looping threw a handle. Locks and keys are numbered-coded. The metallic hardware are plated with gold or palladium to prevent them from tarnishing. The metal lock may be covered with leather or Diamonds as an option. Hermes offers a spa treatment for overly used bags. These bags are made in France by expert artisans, this beautiful piece of art has a high reselling value in many countries especially Asia.
