Bella Hadid never fails to dress for the occasion, while in Cannes for the 77th Cannes Film Festival, she wore several outfits but one that caught the eye of the tabloids was the hot pink Keffiyeh dress that she wore as she took a stroll through the Croisette while eating a pink gelato. Bella paired the dress with frameless rectangular sunglasses and hot pink open-toe sandals from Gucci. 2001 Keffiyeh Dress by Michael and Hushi Below, I put together a few pieces inspired by Bella's outfit. The beautiful and amazing bag that I can never get tired of is the Chanel 2.55.
While it comes in many colors and 3 different sizes the bag has a very interesting history and a great story to tell. Coco Chanel in one of the days of 1920 decided she was tired of having to carry a bag with her arms and she wanted a bag that would free her hands so she found inspiration in the straps found on the soldiers bags and so she added thin straps and had a design ready in 1929, thanks to her now we have shoulder bags which I'm a big fan of. By 1954 which was the time of her fashion comeback she decided to upgrade her bag and her new design was called Chanel 2.55 for her February 1955 collection. The bag has many meaningful features to Coco like the burgundy lining represents the color that Coco wore at the convent where she grew up. The zippered compartment at the inside of the front flap is where Coco was rumored to keep her secret love letters in her original bags. Chanel designed the double chain shoulder straps which was something commonly used in downmarket products and rare in luxury circles at the time. The chains which are attached by leather threaded chain inserted threw eyelets were inspired by keys that the caretakers in the covenant she grew at held at their waist from the same type of chains as the 2.55 shoulder strap chains. The bag originally came with a front lock called the Mademoiselle lock which was in reference to Coco never marrying, since the 1980's versions can also be supplied with the lock in the shape of a double C which are called the classic flaps. The quilted diamond pattern on the exterior is believed to be inspired by Jockeys riding coats, stained glass windows of the abbey at Aubazine, and the cushions in Coco's apartment in Paris. Chanel has released the exact copy of the original 2.55 in February 2005 for its 50th anniversary. This is a classic and beautiful purse that I believe should be in every girls closet.
